Milkshakes & Smoothies
A healthy milkshake or smoothie can be a quick fix, using low – fat ice cream, fresh fruit and/or frozen yoghurt. There are no hard and fast rules to making them, so be as experimental as you like.
Here are some quick and easy fruit smoothie recipes. These recipes are low in fat, rich in anti-oxidants, contain no high fructose corn syrup (when made with 100% organic fruit puree), and provide at least 2 full servings of the RDA of fresh fruit!
Quantities are rarely critical, and these simple recipes guarantee you’ll get energizing liquid refreshment.
These fruit smoothie recipes are great for breakfast, as an after workout cool down, or simply a healthy treat. You can also add protein or malt powder to any smoothie recipe below for a delicious meal replacement smoothie.
Add Oreo biscuits for texture or a Shot of Kailua, Bailey’s, Dark Rum, or Jack Daniels for a hard shake.
Blueberry & Strawberry Swirl – Frozen Yoghurt Milkshake
3 Scoops of low-fat vanilla pod ice cream
4 Tablespoons of low-fat natural yoghurt
20g Fresh blue berries
25ml Blue berry coullis/compote
25ml Strawberry puree – organic and/or locally sourced (when in season)
Strawberries & strawberry coullis – Garnish
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a flask using a milkshake blender
Swirl some strawberry puree around the inside of a tall milkshake glass, pour in the milkshake, garnish with fresh strawberries…….if you’ve got time!
